Unix Timestamp Converter

Choose a direction and enter the timestamp or the date and time.

Convert

Seconds or milliseconds since 1 January 1970 UTC. Over 100 billion is read as milliseconds.

Used when converting a date to a timestamp.

This result is an estimate only. Double-check important figures before relying on them.

How it is calculated

  • A timestamp in seconds × 1,000 gives milliseconds, which are converted to a calendar date in UTC
  • Malaysia time = UTC + 8 hours
  • A date and time in Malaysia is converted to UTC by subtracting 8 hours, then to seconds since the epoch

For differences between dates, use the date difference calculator.

Worked example

Timestamp 1,700,000,000:

  • 2023-11-14 22:13:20 UTC
  • 2023-11-15 06:13:20 in Malaysia

Why your number may differ

Leap seconds are not counted in Unix time. Very large or very small timestamps may not display in every system.
