How it is calculated
- Rate per 1 unit = rate ÷ 1 or ÷ 100, depending on how it is quoted
- Foreign → Ringgit: amount × rate per 1 unit
- Ringgit → Foreign: amount ÷ rate per 1 unit
A rate is only a quote. Banks and money changers use different buying and selling rates and may add fees. To value gold in ringgit, use the gold value calculator.
Worked example
- USD100 at RM4.0795: 100 × 4.0795 = RM407.95
- 10,000 yen at RM2.5990 per 100 yen: 10,000 × 0.02599 = RM259.90
- RM1,000 to euro at RM4.6337: 1,000 ÷ 4.6337 = EUR215.81
Why your number may differ
Exchange rates move during the day. Middle, buying and selling rates differ, and banks, credit cards and money changers add margins or fees. The result here depends entirely on the rate you enter.
