How it is calculated
- Value = weight (g) × 999 gold price per gram × purity factor
- The purity factor is the purity number ÷ 1,000: 916 → 0.916, 750 → 0.75. 999 and 999.9 gold are valued at the full 999 price.
- Pure gold content = weight × fineness
- Karat = 24 × fineness
- Troy ounces = weight ÷ 31.1035
| Purity | Karat | Pure gold |
|---|---|---|
| 999.9 / 999 | 24K | 99.99% / 99.9% |
| 916 | 22K | 91.6% |
| 875 | 21K | 87.5% |
| 750 | 18K | 75.0% |
| 585 | 14K | 58.5% |
| 375 | 9K | 37.5% |

Why your number may differ
Gold prices move during the day and differ between dealers. Selling and buyback prices are not the same, and jewellery usually has workmanship or a margin deducted. Fill in the dealer deduction to estimate a resale value. This is not investment advice.
