How it is calculated

Percent means per hundred.

  • x% of y = x × y ÷ 100
  • x is what % of y = x ÷ y × 100 (y cannot be 0)
  • Add x% to y = y + y × x ÷ 100
  • Subtract x% from y = y − y × x ÷ 100

Worked example

  • 15% of 200 = 30
  • 30 is what % of 200 = 15
  • 200 plus 15% = 230
  • 200 minus 15% = 170
