Random Number Generator
Set a range and how many numbers you want, then press Calculate.
This result is an estimate only. Double-check important figures before relying on them.
How it is calculated
- Whole: smallest + a random fraction × (largest − smallest + 1), rounded down
- Decimal: smallest + a random fraction × (largest − smallest), to 4 places
To find a typical value from a list, use the statistics calculator.
Worked example
Range 1 to 100, 5 numbers:
- For example 42, 7, 91, 15, 63
- Press Calculate again and the set changes
Why your number may differ
The result changes every time, so it cannot be repeated. Do not use it for passwords or anything where fairness is regulated.
Frequently asked questions
Is this truly random?
It uses your browser's built-in pseudo-random generator, which is fine for games and draws but not for security or gambling.
Can the same number appear twice?
Yes. Each number is drawn independently, like rolling a die several times.
Are the limits included?
Yes, for whole numbers both the smallest and largest values can appear.
