Scientific Calculator

Work out full expressions like 2+3×4 or sin(30) right in your browser, with sin, cos, tan, log, ln, powers, square roots and factorials. It works on phones and desktops.

    How to use it

Tap the keys or type on your keyboard, then press = to calculate. The keys available are sin, cos, tan, π, e, x², xʸ, √, log (base 10), ln (natural log), n!, %, EXP (× 10 to the power n), Ans (last answer) and ± (change sign).

    • The angle mode starts in DEG. Tap DEG to switch to RAD.
    • Order of operations: brackets first, then powers and factorials, then × ÷, and finally + −. The minus sign in front of a number applies after powers, so −2² = −4. Implied multiplication (e.g. 2π or 2(3+4)) is done before × and ÷, as on most school scientific calculators, so 1÷2π = 0.159.
    • Missing closing brackets are added automatically.
    • n! works for whole numbers from 0 to 170.
    • % divides by 100, so 200 × 10% = 20.
    • Keyboard: digits, + − * / ^ ( ) . % !, Enter or = to calculate, Backspace to delete one character and Esc to clear. This works while the calculator is focused.
    • On phones, tap fn to show the scientific keys.

    Understanding the results

“Syntax error” (Ralat sintaks) means the expression is incomplete, for example 2+ with no number after it. “Math error” (Ralat matematik) means the calculation cannot be done: dividing by zero, the square root of a negative number, log or ln of zero or a negative number, tan 90°, or a result that is too large.

    Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between DEG and RAD?

DEG (degrees) is for angles in everyday use, for example sin(30) = 0.5. RAD (radians) is used in maths and physics, for example sin(π÷2) = 1. This calculator starts in DEG; tap DEG to switch to RAD.

Why does −2² give −4 and not 4?

Powers are worked out before the minus sign in front of a number, so −2² is read as −(2²) = −4. If you want 4, type (−2)² with brackets.

    Is my calculation history private?

Yes. History is stored only in your browser (local storage) and nothing is sent to a server. You can delete it at any time with the Clear history button.
