How it is calculated

  • Daily hours = (finish − start − break) ÷ 60
  • Weekly = daily × days per week
  • Monthly = weekly × 52 ÷ 12

Worked example

9:00 to 18:00 with a 60 minute break, 5 days a week:

  • 8 hours a day, 40 a week, about 173.3 a month
  • At RM20 an hour: RM800 a week

Why your number may differ

The average month ignores the actual number of working days. Public holidays and leave are not subtracted.

Frequently asked questions

How are monthly hours worked out?

Weekly hours × 52 ÷ 12, so every month is treated as an average of 4.33 weeks.

What if I work overnight?

If the finish time is earlier than the start, the shift is treated as passing midnight.
