How age is calculated
The calculator counts the full months between your date of birth and the calculation date, then converts them into years and months. The remaining days are counted from your last “monthly birthday”. If you were born on the 31st and a month is shorter, its last day is used.
Worked example
Born 15 May 1990, calculated on 29 September 2026:
- 15 May 1990 to 15 May 2026 = 36 years
- 15 May 2026 to 15 September 2026 = 4 months
- 15 September to 29 September = 14 days
- Total days since birth: 13,286 days
- Next birthday (15 May 2027): 228 days away
Why your number may differ
Some official forms count age by year only (current year minus birth year), which can give an answer one year higher before your birthday. Check which method the organisation asking for your age uses.
