How it is calculated
Interest is simple interest paid at maturity:
- Interest = deposit × rate ÷ 100 × months ÷ 12
- Amount at maturity = deposit + interest
Rates are quoted per year and paid pro-rata for the tenure of your deposit.
Worked example
Deposit RM10,000, 3.5% a year, for 12 months:
- Interest: RM350
- Amount at maturity: RM10,350
For a 6-month tenure, the interest is RM175.
