How it is calculated

  • Distance = one-way distance, or × 2 for a round trip
  • Litres = distance × L/100 km ÷ 100, or distance ÷ km/L
  • Cost = litres × price per litre
  • If you enter a quota and an unsubsidised price: litres up to the quota use the first price, and the rest use the unsubsidised price.

Worked example

A 1,000 km trip in a car using 7 L/100 km:

  • Litres: 1,000 × 7 ÷ 100 = 70 litres
  • At RM1.99 a litre: 70 × 1.99 = RM139.30
  • At an example unsubsidised price of RM4.52 a litre: 70 × 4.52 = RM316.40

With a quota: 4,000 km at 10 L/100 km needs 400 litres. With 300 litres of quota left and the example prices: 300 × RM1.99 + 100 × RM4.52 = RM1,049.00.

Why your number may differ

The price you enter is your own estimate; real prices change weekly. Fuel consumption varies with traffic, speed, load and air-conditioning. BUDI95 eligibility is per person, not per vehicle.
